If you shop locally, but the 18 wheeler delivers to the store, what is your environmental footprint? We need to reconsider local, local materials (maybe wood), maybe concrete (but it is an environmental disaster to produce portland cement) maybe tile (from Italy?). Can we really source materials from a 100 mile radius?
My friend Robbie challenged me to consider the environmental footprint of a package delivered to my stoop.
As a vegetarian my summer and fall vegetables travel less than 400 feet from farm to stand and 7 miles from stand to home. How can we make our environmental footprint even smaller?
Harper, Nick and Hayden, thank you for being environmental stewards and taking care of our valley's open space.
